Pokhara Besi Environment Improvement Committee organized a one-day training program on Household waste management and Paper bag making on January 26th and 27th, 2007 with the help of Phewa Lake Environment Awareness and Capacity Building Project.

In the first day, 89 people attended the Household waste management training and in the second day 91 people attended the Paper making training program. The Household waste Management and Compost training was held before in this ward but Paper bag making training was held for the first time.
In the training program, most of the women from Bhairav Tole attended. After the completion of the training, they were distributed Paper bags, bags for shopping and compost chamber as seen in the picture.
The program was organized under the chairmanship of Mr. Rameshor Malla, Chairman of Pokhara Besi Environment Improvement Committee. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Gopal Gurung, Project Coordinator of JICA Pokhara unit stressed the need to replicate the success of household waste management and paper bag making into other wards. Mr. Sharda Mahan Kafle, Project Manager highlighted the activities of project. Ms. Kamala Gurung, Mrs. Kalpana Baral, Indra Bahadur Shrestha, Arun Kayastha and Purnakala were the trainers for the program.
